Abstract:

Dyadic Model for turbulence is a simplified description of energy transfer among (Fourier) scales of the turbulent fluid. It recently attracted attention as an explicit example of a dissipation anomaly, where the regular (smooth) solutions converge in a viscosity limit to a singular inviscid solution that dissipates energy. We will talk about the motivation behind this model starting form the Navier-Stokes equations and the discuss the known results.
