Abstract: 

Problems in industry, bio-medicine, astrophysics, and in environmental sciences motivate the need to develop a complete mathematical theory for system of partial differential equations describing the full thermo-mechanical behavior of non-homogeneous fluids that include rheological properties and fixed or moving boundaries. In this talk, we will survey some examples from these areas including fluid structure interactions and illustrate the use of asymptotic methods in their analysis.
