Professor Nathan Gibson has been appointed to the Education Committee of the the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) for a three year term. The Education Committee has responsibility for supporting SIAM activities related to education, both graduate and undergraduate. These activities include recommendations on education policy and curricula, and carrying out programs to promote applied mathematics and computational science. The committee oversees several ongoing programs, including Student Days at the SIAM Annual Meeting, the Visiting Lecturer Program, SIAM Student Chapters, the Math Contest in Modeling (MCM), SIAM Student Paper Prizes and SIAM Undergraduate Research (SIURO) publication in applied and computational mathematics.
