MTH 655 LAB 1: red sheet

In this lab you explore certain basic scientific computing facts and practice the concepts which have been/are to be discussed in regular class meetings. For each problem, please finish the exploration part during lab or after. When done/before leaving, save your results (see below).
When turning in your solution, simply present the results of the part and in adiition comment on the explain part. Some extras are included for the fast and the curious. This sheet is available online on class web page at .../lab1.html.

Preliminaries:

Did you fill out the questionnaire.html ? If not, please do so.
Log in to the computer
Find MATLAB: as icon on desktop or in Start->Programs
If you do not know syntax of MATLAB, please follow this worksheet. Also you can find many MATLAB tutorials online such as this one .
To save your work, click on File/save your workspace.
