Topics: First order differential equations, and second order linear equations. Applications, especially mechanical oscillators. Introduction to the Laplace transform, numerical methods, and partial differential equations. Solution methods and applications appropriate for science and engineering.
Textbook: Boyce and DiPrima, Elementary Differential Equations and Boundary Value Problems, 8th ed., Wiley.
Homework will be assigned, but it will not be collected. Three thirty-minute Tests will be given on Fridays. Final Exam counts the equivalent of two Tests. The Grade for the course is determined by the best four of these five scores. Absence from a Test gives a score of 0 for that Test. The Final Exam will be comprehensive. New material will be presented on MW and Recitations/Tests will occur on Fridays.
Final Exam: March 17 = Monday, 1800 = 6pm in Stag 233.
