MTH 254: Vector Calculus, I, Fall, 2011

Vectors, vector functions, and curves in two and three dimensions. Surfaces, partial derivatives, gradients, and directional derivatives. Multiple integrals in rectangular, polar, cylindrical, and spherical coordinates. Physical and geometric applications. (Chapters 11-13 and 10.2 from the Textbook.)

Prerequisite: MTH 252

Textbook: Briggs-Cochran, Multivariable Calculus, Pearson, Custom Edition for OSU, 2011.

STUDY GUIDE

Homework will be assigned in Lecture as a topic for Recitation Periods. Two fifty-minute Tests will be given during the Lecture period. Test problems come directly from the assigned Homework. Final Exam counts the equivalent of two Tests. The best three of these four scores will determine the Grade for the course. Absence from a Test gives a score of 0 for that Test; no excuse from a Test is necessary, and there is no excuse for absence from the Final Exam.

Test Dates: October 17, November 9.
Final Exam: Tuesday 1200, December 6, 2011, Gilbert 224.
