MTH 481/581: Mathematical Methods for Engineers & Scientists, Fall, 2012

LECTURE: MWF 900 - 950 Rogers 230 CRN 10412
Instructor: R.E. Showalter Kidder 286 show@math.oregonstate.edu
Office Hours: M 10, W 11
Textbook: Boyce and DiPrima, Elementary Differential Equations and Boundary Value Problems, 9th ed., Wiley.
Topics: Chapters 5, 7, 9. Power series solutions of ordinary differential equations, systems of ordinary differential equations, elementary stability theory. PREREQS: MTH 256
Homework will be assigned to indicate the topics for study, but it will not be collected. Two fifty-minute Tests will be given in the Lecture period. Test problems come directly from the assigned Homework. Final Exam counts the equivalent of two Tests. The Grade for the course is determined by the best three of these four scores. Absence from a Test gives a score of 0 for that Test.

Test#1: October 19
Test#2: November 16
Final Exam: Wednesday, 5 December 1800
