OSU team was awarded Meritorious Winner in the COMAP Mathematical Contest in Modeling which places them in the top 14% internationally.
The COMAP Mathematical Contest in Modeling is a four day math competition which started Thursday February 8th this year. Student teams of three choose from two real world problems and type a solution report to submit. This year the problems involved (A) mapping congressional districts and (B) airplane seating scheduling. Solutions were judged and teams were recognized as Successful Participant, Honorable Mention, Meritorious Winner, or Outstanding Winner. This year there were 14 Outstanding Winner teams, and 122 Meritorious Winner teams, out of 949 teams from 12 different countries.
