Mathematical modeling of diseases plays an important role in understanding disease spread and determining methods to curtail spread. In this talk, I will first introduce compartmental modeling of an infectious disease, called Human African Trypanosomiasis. Then, I will discuss how we can infer key parameters of this model using Bayesian inference of the two types of data that are available on the prevalence of this disease.
