Thank you for your interest in the OSU Graduate Program in Mathematics. We offer MS, MA, and PhD degrees in Mathematics. Here is comprehensive information about our graduate program and graduate assistantships.

For all questions about the graduate program or applying, please consult our FAQs first (applicant FAQs or current student FAQs). If you have further questions that are not answered on our website, please email Emails sent directly to professors or Graduate Committee members may not be answered due to the large volume of inquiries.

Our Students

In our program, we typically have about 70 graduate students, with about 10 in the MS program and 60 working toward a PhD. Most of our PhD students earn their MS enroute to their PhD. Our students come from various national and international undergraduate and masters programs, with degrees mostly (but not exclusively) in mathematical sciences. Here are their stories. Each year we welcome 15-20 new graduates into our friendly and collaborative environment. Successful applicants are enthusiastic about studying mathematics at the graduate level, and usually have completed undergraduate coursework in linear algebra and introductory real analysis. Many have had exposure to mathematical research, and/or have had other professional experiences. Students with a good undergraduate background may apply directly to the PhD program. Students with a prior Master's degree may also apply. We also accept students only interested in the Master's program.

We are now accepting applications for academic year 2022-23. Applicants may apply for Fall 2022, and the deadline for full consideration is January 5, 2022. We do not typically admit in the Winter, Spring, or Summer terms.
