Abstract: In this talk we will discuss the foundations of hyperbolic knot theory as well as generalizations to cusped hyperbolic 3-manifolds. Then we will explore the volume conjecture as well as the 1-loop conjecture, and work towards understanding the proof of the 1-loop conjecture for the specific case of two-bridge knots.
