Abstract:

The security of current electronic encryption and authetication schemes depends on the one-wayness of different mathematical problems, such as hashing and multiplication. We will look at a few different methods to factorize integers. In particular, we will see how they are connected and how they compare to one another, and what recent developments there have been to further improve the methods.
