Translation surfaces can be viewed as polygons with parallel and equal sides identified. A diffeomorphism on a translation surface to itself is call pseudo-Anosov if its derivative is a constant 2x2 matrix with trace larger than two. In this talk, we will look at Veech's construction of translation surfaces and their induced pseudo-Anosov diffeomorphisms. I will give known examples of pseudo-Anosov diffeomorphisms with vanishing Sah-Arnoux-Fathi invariants as well as some of my own.
