Bio:

My name is Katy Williams and I am Mathematics Instructor at Oregon State University. I primarily teach College Algebra (MTH 111), Algebraic Reasoning (MTH 103), and Mathematics for Management, Life, and Social Sciences (MTH 245) as well as coordinate MTH 111. I helped bring the Undergraduate Learning Assistant Program to the Math Department which is now prevalent in MTH 103 (on-campus and Ecampus), MTH 111 (on-campus and Ecampus), MTH 112, MTH 245 (on-campus and Ecampus), and MTH 341. I was involved a team redesign effort of College Algebra, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, in which the DFW (Ds, Fs and withdraws) rate was decreased to less than 20%. I have redeveloped three online courses and taught two statistics courses, ST201 and ST314. I am passionate about building community in my classes, helping students learn from their mistakes, and creating engaging activities to introduce material.

M.S. Statistics, Oregon State University, 2015

B.S. Mathematics, Angelo State University, 2013
