Abstract:

Surreal Numbers - An Introduction Surreal numbers were developed by John Conway and named by Donald Knuth. We introduce the definition and construction of Surreal Numbers in two ways. The first way is the sequential definition and the second way is the original definition given by John Conway. We will discuss the arithmetic properties of ordering, adding and multiplying surreal numbers. NOTE: Professor Anderson received his PhD from OSU in 1990
