Guest Speaker:

On Decomposable Cyclically Presented Groups

Abstract:

This talk is on my research of cyclically presented groups. The presentations are cyclically symmetric in that the corresponding groups admit an automorphism of finite order called the shift.

My research looks at cyclically presented groups which admit a certain decomposition, and relates properties of the group to the components of the decomposition. Tools used are both algebraic and topological. This is a talk in the graduate student seminar so context will be emphasized.
