Speaker Info

Local Speaker:

I will introduce some techniques for computing the geometric index of a simple closed curve or link in a solid torus. Geometric index is related to algebraic index, but is in general more difficult to compute. After reviewing some basic examples, I will introduce a general technique that works in most cases. This is joint work with K. Andrist, D. Repovš, and D. Wright.
