Abstract:

This talk is on modelling porosity. Porosity is the proportion of a region unoccupied by a solid. We'll begin by reviewing conservation of mass, and from this derive a model for the evolution of porosity in an elastic medium. The model is then broken into separate pieces of study, before being rejoined into a fixed point problem. Some further properties of solutions will be examined."
