Abstract:

A review of the use of branching process to obtain solutions

of analogues of the KPP-Fisher equation will be given. Motivated

by an interest in modeling population dynamics in Marine Protected Areas,

similar equations with discontinuous coefficients naturally arise. The

extension of the branching process approach to these problems pose new

questions, some of which might be open problems. This talk in based on

work with James Rekow and Patrick DeLeenheer.
