This seminar will be given by the Principal Developer of OpenFOAM, Dr Hrvoje Jasak. OpenFOAM is an open source tool box for solution of continuum mechanics problems, including computational fluid dynamics. It is written in c++, and has a syntax that allows partial differential equations and tensorial operations to be represented in code that resembles the equations being solved. Numerical solution is performed through the finite volume and finite area methods, with meshing tools provided that allow dynamic meshes. With a large user and developer community OpenFOAM is updated frequently, with developed code for many modelling applications that range from turbulence models, large eddy simulation, stress analysis, thermodynamics, chemistry, electromagnetics, molecular dynamics … and much more.
