In this talk we will be looking at the dynamics of various types of plant diseases. To do so, we consider two different models. The first involves Barley and Cereal Yellow Dwarf Viruses, where coinfection of the plant with two or more of these viruses can lead to increased mortality and diminished crop yield. In the second model we consider the optimal control of singly-infected crops, such as Cassava and Maize, through the introduction of clean seeds.
