Choah Shin, a PhD student in Mathematics is the 2019-20 recipient of the Larry W. Martin and Joyce B. O'Neill Endowed Fellowship. The Martin-O'Neill Fellowship is awarded to a graduate student in the College of Science who demonstrates high achievement and whose research involves computational modeling. Mr Martin is a math (and engineering) alumnus: he had a successful career as a mathematician focusing on modeling for companies such as Lockhead Martin and IBM before leading Troon Vinyeard. The Fellowship includes a stipend and tuition waiver for the entire academic year. Choah's nomination emphasized her breadth and depth in the use of computations for modeling how fluids flow and change phase in the subsurface sediments. She is also the recipient of the prestigious NSF MSGI internship fellowship for Summer 2019. Congratulations, Choah!
