Ecological Detection in the Arctic: Three Vignettes
Dr. Marc Mangel is a biologist who is broadly interested in using mathematical methods to solve biological and ecological problems. He currently works on projects ranging from how human disturbance of foraging habitats will affect marine mammals to using population modeling to inform cybersecurity measures. He is a Distinguished Professor at UCSC, an Adjunct Professor at the University of Bergen, and an Affiliate Professor at the University of Washington, Tacoma.
He is also author of influential books and reviews, including The Ecological Detective: Confronting Models with Data and The Theoretical Biologist’s Toolbox.
In addition to his seminar, Dr. Mangel will also be hosting a professional development meeting for graduate students and post-docs where he will answer our questions regarding ANYTHING professional development related. This meeting will be Tuesday, February 11thin Nash 033 from 3-5PM. SNACKS will be provided!
