OSU mathematics undergraduates take part and score highly in the Putnam Exam

The Putnam Exam is a 6 hour long math test for undergraduates held on the first Saturday in December each year. The sixty-seventh competition was held December 2, 2006. A total of 3640 students from 508 colleges and universities in the US and Canada participated. We are pleased to report that two of our students scored high enough to make it into the top 25%: Kenny Barrese and Jason Siefken.

Although three of our top four team members were unable to participate due to various scheduling conflicts, the remaining members earned a team rank of 114. This speaks highly of the depth of talent in the department. Our other students participating in the Putnam this year were: Max Brugger, Scott Clark, and Lucas Marks.
