The following textbooks are recommended as background for the class but is not required. Both are available for downloading from SIAM's website.

The book by Michael T. Heath, Scientific computing : an introductory survey, Boston : McGraw-Hill, c2002. is recommended for background reading on scientific computing. The book has been placed on reserve in OSU Valley Library. Use barcode 120140718368, call number Q183.9 .H4 2002.
