Edward Waymire was installed as President of the Bernoulli Society for Mathematical Statistics and Probability during the congress of the International Statistical Institute in Dublin, Ireland on Thursday, August 26, 2011.

The Bernoulli Society, formed in 1975, is the world society for statistics and probability theory.  It is the largest section of the International Statistical Institute, one of the oldest international scientific associations functioning in the modern world.  Having completed a two-year term as president-elect, he will now serve as President of the Bernoulli Society for the coming two years. (Professor Waymire will be on sabbatical leave from OSU to the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University during the coming academic year 2011-2012.)
