The OSU Student Chapter of AWM hosted its first Sonia Kovalevskaya Day for middle school students on Saturday May 7th, 2011. There were a total of 42 student participants in grades 5-9 coming from as far as Woodburn. The feedback from students and parents has been overwhelmingly positive! Pictures from the event are posted online.
We want to thank all the students and faculty who helped, whether during the earlier stages of planning and coordination or during the day itself. Special thanks to Marie Franzosa, her math education students who volunteered, Scott Peterson, Professors Tom Dick and Barbara Edwards, and AWM advisors Professors Vrushali Bokil, Nathan Gibson and Holly Swisher. We would also like to acknowledge the Department of Mathematics, AWM, and NSF for their generous support.
