OSU Mechanical Engineering and Northwest Marine Research Center

During the last decade, federal investment in marine renewable
energy has increased dramatically, and US Department of Energy has funded
three centers in this area. The Northwest National Marine Renewable
Energy Center (NNMREC), headquartered at Oregon State University and
partnered with University of Washington is one of these centers and
focuses on wave and tidal energy. In this talk, I will present a brief
overview of wave energy research and development at NNMREC and current
capabilities. I will give an overview of the broad variety of wave energy
devices under consideration and discuss NNMREC's role in advancing the
technology toward commercialization. I will conclude with some open
problems in this exciting new field.
