Professor Emeritus
Department of Mathematics

Biography

Adel Faridani received his Diplom in Physics (1982) and Ph. D. in Applied Mathematics (1988) from the University of Münster, Germany. He came to Oregon State University in 1989 on a Feodor Lynen Fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and joined the department’s faculty in 1990.

Research

Faridani conducts research in numerical analysis, investigating problems arising in Signal Processing and Computed Tomography. In signal processing he is interested in non-equidistant sampling of bandlimited functions. His research in tomography comprises questions of optimal sampling and resolution; error estimates for reconstruction algorithms in two and three dimensions; and theory and implementation of local tomography.
