Abstract:

Symmetries are at the basis of various parts of mathematics
and modern physics. They appear in hierarchies and love to disguise
themselves.  In this talk we investigate the principles of Kac-Moody
geometry. Starting with the symmetric groups, we show how it is at the
basis of a rich geometric panorama, including Lie groups, Kac-Moody
groups, finite and infinite dimensional symmetric spaces, buildings,
cities and many more fascinating objects
