Description

Catherine Searle works in Differential Geometry with an emphasis on Comparison Theory. Her research has been focussed on positively and non-negatively curved Riemannian manifolds, which admit "large" isometric group actions, where "large" can be defined in a number of ways. More recently she has been studying Alexandrov spaces of positive and non-negative curvature which admit large isometry groups, since Riemannian manifolds with a lower curvature bound are properly contained in the space of Alexandrov spaces with the same lower curvature bound and a better understanding of such Alexandrov spaces often enhances our understanding of the corresponding Riemannian manifolds.
