Graduate student attends selective workforce development program

Madison Phelps was selected to participate in the Sustainable Research Pathways (SRP) Matching Workshop, a comprehensive workforce development program designed to connect students and faculty with U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Laboratory scientists to encourage lasting collaborations, jump start careers, and build inclusive workplace environments. The event is organized by the Sustainable Horizons Institute, , which cultivates diverse, equitable, and inclusive scientific communities, with a focus on computational science. Madison gave a lightning talk and participated in a matching workshop that took place January 11-13, 2023. She says "I was able to learn about different types of research that is happening at various labs throughout the country, specifically, with LBNL and Sandia. This opportunity was incredibly special because I was able to meet different people at DOE laboratories where I eventually want to work at one day".
