The Department of Mathematics will host its 39th annual Lonseth Lecture and awards ceremony beginning at 3:30pm on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 in the Construction & Engineering Hall at the LaSells Stewart Center. All faculty members (past and present), graduate students, undergraduate math majors, their families, and alumni and friends of the department are cordially invited to attend.

3:30pm-4:00pm: Annual Awards Ceremony
More than a dozen departmental awards and scholarships are given to recognize exceptional undergraduate and graduate students. Student-selected awards to faculty for excellence in teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels will also be given.

4:00pm-5:00pm The 39th annual Lonseth Lecture Speaker:

5:00pm-6:00pm Public Reception
The Lonseth lecture series was established in 1985 to honor Arvid T. Lonseth, Professor Emeritus and former chair of the Mathematics Department at Oregon State University, and it is the most prominent public lecture organized by the mathematics department.
