Many undergraduate students choose to do research in mathematics, either through an Honors College thesis, URSA Engage, the College of Science SURE program, an REU program, or on a faculty member's research grant.

- Three undergraduate students were mentored by Malgorzata Peszynska in 2023:
- Joseph Carrigg (OSU URSA participant): “Albedo effects in the models of snow temperatures”
- Nicholas Slugg (partially supported from NSF grant): “Numerical Implementation of Hysteresis in Permafrost Modeling”
- Wylea Walker: “Modeling wild-fires and image analysis at the pore-scale.”

- Madison Collins was advised by Elizabeth Jones, thesis entitled “Analysis of calculus curriculum implementation”.
- Griffin Brandstetter was advised by Enrique A. Thomann, thesis entitled “Characterization of binary trees”.
- Eric Schneider was advised by David J. Wing, thesis entitled “The Axiom of Choice and Homotopy Type Theory”.
- Kerala Riley was advised by Mary Beisiegel, thesis entitled “Community Engagement in Mathematics through Outreach Programs”.
